So today I was granted the chance to try out a piece of beta software today. I must say that I was somewhat disappointed in the app. I thought the concept was there, the Appleesque animations were there, but they had missed some major functionality. Now I don’t want to jump the gun here as this is, after all, beta software. I cannot, however, see them getting the kind of functionality I expected in by their projected release next week.

During my usage I noticed that their integration with some core API functionality was lacking, for example the inability to respond or comment on Facebook statuses or other Facebook items, rending the app a feed reader (for Facebook at least). On another note it was required that you had to click on a status to mark it as read, which seems a little silly to me, however they do provide a ‘Mark All As Read’ button.

On a positive note, the UI is very nice and the icon, designed by Na’design (I think), looks really great!

I’ll be keeping my eye out for the release however and have my fingers crossed that ugly desktop solution, Twitteriffic, can be replaced.

Hi Joshua,

I’m one of the developers of EventBox. I’m sorry you were disappointed! EB for Facebook is not _quite_ just a feed reader as you can update your own status, but I see your point.
However, your comments on Facebook are all limitations of the Facebook API. We’d really love to have commenting on statuses/photos, and also wall integration. But Facebook just don’t support it. Thanks for you comments on the UI though, Na is indeed our designer.

@corun I wasn’t aware that those were restrictions of the Facebook API. Looks like I did jump the gun a bit in that respect. I’ll be looking forward to the release. Good luck!
